I’m keeping this one short and sweet, as the title here pretty much says it all: I’m going on a road trip!
Today, I’m leaving for the Gibb River Road with a couple of friends from the backpackers. In some ways, the trip has been a long time coming; in others, it’s come together as loosely as it could and taken me by surprise. Either way, I can hardly contain myself right now. This, I know, will be one of the best road trips I’ve ever taken.
The Gibb River Road is part of the Kimberley, an incredible and little-explored region of Western Australia. This is red gorges and cool swimming holes, saltwater crocs and remote wilderness. This is the the Outback.
We’ll be taking ten days to explore the Gibb by four wheel drive (the only way to do it), camping along the way. I’ll be mostly unplugged and off the grid for the next week and a half, which means taking a bit of a vacation from the blog here. When I’m back, expect it to be in a big way. I’ll have so much to share with you from the Gibb, not to mention the rest of what I’ve been up to here in Broome. I can hardly wait. For now, though, it’s time for an adventure. See you soon!
